Fulvio Bianconi

Vase in “greeny” glass with application of reticulated threads of lattimo glass in the shape of a stylized female bust

The female figure is one of Bianconi’s favourite and most recurrent subjects, which at times he depicts stylized and headless. More than ornamental objects, his works are small sculptures availing of only minimal decoration with ancient glassmaking techniques. Here, fili butai (glass threads inserted at random) intensify the brightness of the glass with their contrast to make it more dynamic and abstract. Credit also goes to the mastery of the glassmakers who appear to have succeeded in rendering the artist’s fantasy completely.
