Fulvio Bianconi
Parrot figurine in fenicio glass, finishing in different types of polychrome pasta vitrea on truncated cone base

Fulvio Bianconi designed innumerable figurines, among which parrots were a fairly unusual variation. These amusing stylizations were decorated with fenicio glass, a technique perfectly suited to the multihued plumage of these exotic birds. Paolo Venini’s daughter, Anna Venini Diaz de Santillana, recalled the modern spirit with which Bianconi confronted Muranese tradition. “He explained what he wanted with words and gestures in a beautiful sort of creative dance. His capacity for invention was endless.”
