Umberto Bellotto
Artisti Barovier
Vase in polychrome murrine glass on plant-motif wrought-iron stem

Umberto Bellotto’s works in iron and glass were met with mixed opinion. Traditionalists disdained the connubio di ferro e vetro, accusing him of contaminating the purity of glass while others applauded its outstanding creative audacity. At the 1st International Decorative Arts Exhibition in Monza (1923) Umberto Bellotto demonstrated his incomparable skill, portentous versatility, and unceasing research with an exhibition of Minimalist nuance suited perfectly to his wrought iron and the hues of the Artisti Barovier glass.
