Ercole Barovier

Vase with lid in Primavera glass, handles and rims in black glass

Clearly evidencing the renewal in Murano glass then in progress, Ercole Barovier’s Primavera works were also popular abroad, where shown for the first time at the Liège Exposition Universelle in 1930. La Casa bella magazine dedicated an article to the exhibition, and celebrated Primavera glass as the Murano glass industry’s departure from tradition towards meeting the changing taste of the public. This sober and fine decor and the winning crackle effect were to become installations in the modern home.
