Ercole Barovier
Vase in Primavera glass, handles and rim in black glass

Primavera glass is the fruit of the random colour testing conducted by Ercole Barovier, who used this glass he would never be able to produce again to make around two-hundred decorative items. The milk glass texture recalls the crackle effect of ceramic and despite the limited availability marked a definitive passage in modern glassmaking art. La Casa bella magazine praised Primavera glass items in 1930 for the sober shapes, formal sobriety, beauty of shapes and materials and stylish sense of proportion that make these wares excellent examples of the combination of classic taste with modern style.
